Markets

The Manly Village Public School markets have been running for over 30 years and is a very popular monthly event. The markets are held the 3rd Saturday of every month open from 8am to 4pm.

Manly markets - sells new and used goods. There are a collection of clothes, furniture, plants, jewellery, art, homewares, and food. It is a vibrant collection of stalls and an exciting place to shop and browse around.

See the Facebook page for more details.

The Manly Village Public School P&C are extremely grateful of the fundraising contribution that these markets generate each year from stall holder fees.

In addition, if you are interested in volunteering to help with market setup, car parking or pack up please contact the talented market manager Simon to find out ways that you can help out.

bEACH bITES Canteen

Beach Bites Canteen offers nutritious, affordable, and easily accessible food for the children and staff at Manly Village Public School.  We take great care in ensuring our children are well cared for by providing them with food that's fresh, appetising, interesting and most of all, healthy.  Further it endeavours to teach children the importance of waste reduction by serving meals with environmentally friendly utensils, plates and cups along with encouraging the use of reusable items for meals.

Beach Bites....

  • Provides nutritional food that is made daily at the canteen and sourced from the local suppliers in our community.
  • Is easy to access - order online on www.flexischools.com.au use the flexischools Smartphone app or order directly from the canteen before 9.30am each day.
  • Gives young children exposure to managing transactions, making their own choices, using money and even practice in using their manners.
  • Is children focussed - we love talking to the children, assisting them with their transactions and helping them make healthy food choices each day.
  • Offers a wide variety of food choices made fresh each day.  The children will easily find something appetising to choose from – sandwiches, sushi,  pasta and rice cups, fruit, carrot sticks, pasta bolognaise, butter chicken, pizza, freshly baked items and other snacks

How can you be Involved?

Beach Bites Canteen is owned and managed by the P&C at MVPS.  Our success depends hugely on the generosity of our parents as volunteers.  We encourage all parents at MVPS to come and help out.  You will be pleasantly surprised at the treasures you will find ... It is lots of fun and a chance to meet many other parents at the school!

Most importantly, the children LOVE to see mum, dad and/or carers in the canteen - they get very excited, feel very proud and it makes them feel part of the school community.  Just simple light kitchen duties are all that's required, and a friendly smile for the children.

Hours of opening

9.15am                     Canteen duty starts

11:00 – 11:20am     Lunch service

Banking

School banking is through the Commonwealth Bank and managed by volunteers and organised through the P&C. This is an important weekly event each Friday morning that aims to teach children to save money for their future needs. There are prizes for children to choose from when they reach certain goals of regular deposits into their accounts to encourage the behaviour of regular savings.

If you are interested in helping out with banking please get in contact with the always cheerful banking coordinator Barbara to find out how you can get involved.

 Senior Band (2017)

Senior Band (2017)

Band

The Manly Village Public School has a proud history of school bands that have been organised by volunteers, partially funded and managed by the P&C.

The band is a great opportunity for children to learn, play and perform music throughout their schooling. ‘Blow tests’ for year 2 students are held in term 4 along with a parent information night regarding what is involved in becoming a part of the school band and enable budding musicians to join. There are usually 3 bands to accommodate every child’s ability and these are Training Band (for beginners mainly year 3), Intermediate Band (for year 4 & some year 5 students) and Senior Band (for year 5 and year 6 students). The bands perform throughout the year at assemblies and other significant events.

If you are interested in your child learning a musical instrument please get in contact with the P&C band committee.

In addition, if you are interested in contributing to the improvements to musical learning at the school please contact the band committee to find out ways that you can help out.
